Currently, Heishman has an exhibition of new work up at The Writer's Place of Kansas City. The show, WIND/MIND, opened on April 4th and will remain up until June 27th. Work included in the exhibition are from Heishman's recent GOALS and Still life series. Each body of work reflects Heishman's interest in the physically and performative aspects of the medium of photography.
"WIND / MIND refers to my work and methodology. In my notebook, when I have it open and don't know what to write, draw or whatever, I tend to quickly write these words in cursive, to where the two emerge as the same word through the messiness of my script. Wind has been a focus in my work for a few years now and, like the fusing of the words "wind" and "mind", the wind stands as a force that helps blends my artistic intentions with uncertainty and chance. Whether it is present in the work, as an actual representation of the wind in a wind drawing, or whether it's felt while viewing a photograph of mine, the notion of the "wind" helps me meditate on the pleasure of chance in both my work and life."
